Sandy Springs has an unusual concentration of hospitals. The cluster along Peachtree Dunwoody and Johnson Ferry roads, known as Pill Hill, has its own MARTA stop, Medical Center station. Two of the large adult hospitals are here.

  • Northside Hospital Atlanta on Johnson Ferry Road is the Northside system's flagship, with 621 beds.
  • Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital on Peachtree Dunwoody Road is a 410-bed acute care hospital. It was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1880 and is Atlanta's oldest hospital.

Both are a short drive from Dunwoody, Brookhaven and Buckhead too. Being close to the hospital helps, but the days after discharge still happen at home. A caregiver can pick up the prescriptions when the pharmacy allows it, make lunch, help with a shower, drive to the follow-up visit and let you know how the day went.

  • The Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex at 6500 Vernon Woods Drive, known as the Benson Center, is a Fulton County facility serving North Fulton residents.
